More Than You'd Ever Want to Know

We interrupt this regularly scheduled Trailblazer Tuesday (just like I did last week, oh well...) to say, "Well, it's so very nice to meet you, too. Thanks for sharing and now I'll tell you a little bit about me!"

100 More Things Than Anyone Really Needs to Know About Me

  1. I am proud to be a Georgia peach transplanted in the desert of Arizona and thriving all the same, thank you very much!
  2. I am married to a preacher man and absolutely love it! (I'll try really hard not to use too many more exclamation marks! Oops!)
  3. I love coffee, but lately it doesn't like me
  4. I could eat Italian food every day - it is clearly my favorite
  5. I love to hike and backpack.
  6. I've backpacked a small portion of the Appalachian Trail, enough to be able to call myself a section hiker.
  7. I have a journalism degree from the University of Georgia.
  8. My parents are both retired educators and I love the heritage that has given me.
  9. I am a writer, I am an author, I am a published writer - they say I need to keep telling myself these things until I actually believe them. If you are also a writer, you know what I mean.
  10. I have not worked full time outside the home since before the advent of the Internet, the cell phone phenomenon, or the Nintendo - it's been a while.
  11. I love studying the Bible and teaching it. It's my delight.
  12. I sit on the front pew at my church, not because my husband is the pastor as everyone thinks, but because I get a bad case of ADD around 10:30 on Sunday mornings.
  13. I have a son who is a National Merit Scholar at the University of Arizona. I like to say that. It makes me feel like I might have done something right. Actually, it just means God brilliantly answered our prayers.
  14. I have a 16-year-old daughter who lights up the stage as often as she can get on one. She's promised to take me as her date to the Academy Awards some day.
  15.  I've just started wearing reading glasses this year. Darn.
  16. About once a month I have a week where I like to cook a lot. The rest of the time, not so much. This is not that week.
  17. My favorite colors for my house are red, yellow and green.
  18. My favorite colors for my clothes are black, red, and orange.
  19. My favorite kind of cake is white cake with white buttercream icing.
  20. I love Raisinettes. But I'm not sure I know how to spell them.
  21. I have one brother, younger than me. But I'm pretty sure he looks older. Just kidding!
  22. My favorite authors are Nicholas Sparks, Lynn Austin, Jan Karon and Eugenia Price.
  23. I was a band person in high school ('cause we all want to know what everyone "was" in high school, don't we?) I was rifle captain and played the French Horn.
  24. I was in two Miss America preliminary pageants (local level) when I was in college and never even placed, but I could now.
  25. I obviously have no concept of numbers. I thought 100 facts would be easy. It's not.
  26. Breakfast is my favorite meal and I wake up starving every morning.
  27. I glisten (sweat, perspire profusely, whatever) when I eat hot foods. My family is entertained by this genetic anomaly.
  28. I live in a shoe box. Actually it's a flat-roofed Santa Fe style home, but my friends from the East think it looks like a shoe box.
  29. I learned to diagram sentences when I was in the 2nd grade because my mom was an English teacher. 
  30. Thus I text in complete sentences with punctuation marks.
  31. My favorite season is whichever one I am currently beginning. Then, after about 2 months it's whichever one is next.
  32. I have two little Shih-Poos and they drive me crazy. One of these days I'll show you why.
  33. The deal hasn't been sealed, but I'm really hoping to get to be a ballerina in Heaven.
  34. I can't stand making telephone calls, especially to make appointments. Can't. Stand. It.
  35. My first car was a 1966 Ford Mustang, navy. A real beaut.
  36. I lived in a dorm all four years of college and was an RA the last year and a half.
  37. I smock. No, not smoke. Smock. I sewed and smocked all of my daughter's dresses when she was little.
  38. In fact, while we're on that one, I've never put a cigarette in my lips, ever.
  39. Now I have this unrelenting need to tell you that if you do smoke, it's ok. I don't like it, but we can still be friends.
  40. I have to drink milk from a glass, not a cup.
  41. I can drink all other beverages from either a glass or a cup.
  42. I don't like to drink coffee from Styrofoam cups, however. I prefer real mugs.
  43. I don't like to drink water or tea from a straw. 
  44. I love the movie "When Harry Met Sally." Wonder why?
  45. I love Jane Austen books and movies. 
  46. I was a lifeguard for a while in college.
  47. I spent four summers working at Six Flags Over Georgia. Thus, I make a mean tissue paper flower and can drive a long trolley filled with giddy park visitors. 
  48. I watch American Idol. Not only that, but I actually vote. Gasp.
  49. I heart NY!
  50. I donate blood fairly regularly.
  51. I love talking with my best friend. Together we solve the world's problems and occasionally our own.
  52. My favorite stores are Talbot's, Coldwater Creek, Ann Taylor, and Dillard's. My mom says my taste runs too expensive. I say she raised me. My husband wishes he knew about this before we got married. I really do wait for the sales though.
  53. I am fairly shy at first, but once I get to know someone I'm a real talker. Bet you never would have guessed!
  54. I love to shop for purses. They're my favorite.
  55. I drive a dark blue van. It has a Georgia G on the front of it. If you see me, honk.
  56. I do my own nails. If I don't keep them polished I bite them. So I try to keep them done.
  57. I only wear silver, no gold. Except my wedding band, which I'd love to have redone in white gold, hint, hint.
  58. I'm a big James Avery jewelry fan and have a charm bracelet with about 40 or more charms on it that I just love.
  59. I collect Blue Ridge plates, though I'm pretty happy with my collection and not really looking for more.
  60. I'm a pretty good cook, if I do say so myself.
  61. I learned to water ski and snow ski in Pennsylvania - at different times of course.
  62. I have a real thing for magazines. I love Woman's Day, Ladies Home Journal, Good Housekeeping, etc.
  63. I'm a little afraid of the dark and slept with a night light until just a few years ago.
  64. I absolutely adore rainy days.
  65. I was a Brownie and a Girl Scout and I've been to Juliet Lowe's home in Savannah.
  66. I was also a Sunbeam, a GA and an Acteen Queen with Sceptor. So there.
  67. I won 4H contests in sewing and child development.
  68. I did a public relations internship with the Atlanta Braves. 
  69. I was a technical writer before my children were born.
  70. My greatest deficiency in the mothering thing is taking care of sick children. I'm clueless and I could tell you stories...
  71. My favorite stages of my kids' lives have been whatever one they're in at the time. And I've LOVED the teen years!
  72. I rode the Pink Pig.... many times.
  73. I absolutely love the whole Ann of Green Gables series, both the books and the movies.
  74. I do not have good handwriting.
  75. My ideal home would have a large vegetable garden, a morning room with a fire place (like in Rebecca) and a mud room.
  76. I had my second child au natural because the epidural I had with the first one did absolutely nothing for my back labor.
  77. I drink Eight O'clock Coffee.When it's on sale.
  78. I love to play games. Not Monopoly though.
  79. My favorite scripture is Jeremiah 15:16 - Your words were found, and I ate them. Your words became a delight to me and the joy of my heart, for I am called by Your name, LORD God of Hosts.
  80. My decorating style is country classic modern French old world retro. I'm not really into Greecian.
  81. I love pizza. But I don't eat meat on it anymore.
  82. I'm a mean map reader. You want me riding shotgun. My husband might have a different opinion.
  83. I tend to accidentally leave out the vanilla when cooking recipes that call for it. It's just a problem I have.
  84. I used to run. Then, just like Forrest Gump, one day I was done with that.
  85. Now I walk at least several days a week. 
  86. I love my family to pieces. In fact, they are my pieces.
  87. I'm a really good friend. Just saying. My brother is a good friend too. I think it's because my parents are really good friends to their friends.
  88. I like to camp.
  89. I do not like critters to visit me when I camp.
  90. While hiking, I've encountered a rattlesnake, a coyote, a bear, a javelina, and wild turkeys. I'm hoping I never encounter any kind of cat.
  91. I like Celine Dion and saw her in Vegas. Please don't hate me.
  92. My love language is gifts. Thus, I'm giving away two today.
  93. I met my husband in Fort Worth, Texas, when we were both in seminary.
  94. I'm a homebody. I love being in my home and piddling.
  95. My favorite time of the day is morning. It just doesn't last long enough.
  96. I'm definitely a "glass is half full" person; actually more of a "glass is practically full" type person.
  97. Each summer I like to read a lot and it's all I can do not to take one of those "Library Summer Reading Program forms" and fill it out. 
  98. I will never jump out of an airplane. 
  99. I like murder mystery TV shows like Cold Case and Castle.
  100. I will not be writing 100 facts about myself again, ever.
