Nothing is Impossible With God!

Don't we all just love stories of the impossible turned possible? After all, we each face dauntingly improbable situations now and then, and these stories of hope and victory give us something to hang on for.

But as Christians we have more than a good story here or a kind word of encouragement there to keep us plugging away. We don't just count on good karma, good luck, or properly aligned stars to make the impossible happen. And we don't have to keep our fingers crossed, keep our halos polished or even think positive thoughts in order to see miracles happen. In fact, now get this one down straight, we don't even have to say particularly eloquent prayers, pray often enough, or beseech the Lord with a certain degree of  passion in order to see the spectacular in our lives.

We have a God who consistently amazes us with His power, His love, His perfect timing, His ability to move and work where no man can go, and His supernatural ability. And He alone is big enough, strong enough, and powerful enough to do the miraculous without any manipulation on our part.

In Jeremiah 32:27, God says of Himself,

Behold, I am the Lord,
the God of all flesh.
Is there anything too hard for Me?
(Jeremiah 32:27)

That, by the way, is a rhetorical question requiring nothing more than a bent knee, a bowed head, and a shut mouth. But in case you must respond, the correct answer is found just a few sentences prior to this humbling question,

Ah, Lord God!
(Come on... say it with passion now!)
Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth
by Your great power and outstretched arm.
There is nothing too hard for You.
(Jeremiah 32:17)

And all God's people said, "Amen!"

I need that all powerful God in my life. I'm counting on Him for some very difficult things right now. Of course, I'm aware that His miracles sometimes take a different route than my hopes and dreams. But I know this: He can. I don't always know if He will. But He can.

Are you facing a particularly daunting situation right now? Maybe you need some healing, physically or emotionally. Maybe you need some financial help. Perhaps you are constantly praying for a wayward child, beginning to doubt that he'll ever turn around. Maybe your marriage is holding on by a thread. In fact, someone in your life may have absolutely ruined things and you see no way for things to ever be even "ok" again. Or perhaps you've blown it and you doubt there will ever be a solution to the mess you've created. We all face the "impossible" occasionally. Are you staring it in the face right now?

Hang in there. Better yet, write Jeremiah 32:27 & 17 on a 4x6 index card, keep it with you throughout your day, and meditate on it often, just as often as you eat or drink. Eat that thing, dear friend. It's life to you. It's hope. It's a promise that nothing is too difficult for your God and you haven't seen the end of this situation yet.

Nothing is impossible with God. Nothing.
