You Will Get Through This

Just today I heard of another suicide attempt by a hopeless woman. Last Sunday, one of our college students reported during prayer time that a young person she had gone to school with killed himself.

We hear about situations like these and we think they seem far off, other worldly. Other people get so desperate that they take their lives, but surely we never would.

And I hope not. But I do know that even the most godly, "well-balance" individual can spiral into a hopelessness that results in tragedy. Men in the Bible suffered from depression and contemporary preachers and missionaries have felt the weight of despondency as well.

And that's why I begin this first post in this series on personal struggles with this important message:

You will get through this. There is hope. Do not let the enemy convince you that this is the thing that will finally lick you. Instead believe the truth:

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)

Today it may seem more than you can bear. And tomorrow may look bleak. The weight may be heavy, and the road ahead may look long. Perhaps you've asked tough questions and received answers you didn't want, answers that break your heart and hurt your feelings. And maybe you have born this burden too long already and don't even want to see another day if this is what life is going to be like from here on out.

Oh, dear friend, do not give up. You can do this...in the strength and grace and power of Jesus Christ. Alone, you may surely fall victim to this monumental battle. But with Him all things are possible.

Do not give up. Do not give up. Do not.

Victory is just around the bend. Run to your Mighty Warrior! Allow Him to lift your downcast face; look full into His assuring gaze. He is for you; who can be against you? Do not give up.

You will get through this.

Are you struggling with a huge personal burden today? Dear friend, take heart. You will get through this!
